The Arts Society Highland

Highland  Decorative and Fine Arts  Society was founded in 1990.   It was an affiliate Society of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies, founded in 1968 by Patricia Fay.   In May 2017 the name changed to The Arts Society and our Society here in the Highlands  is now called The Arts Society Highland.   We are a leading Arts charity with over 360 Societies in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.  Our aim is to open up the world of the Arts to everyone.    It is not just a great way to learn, it is also a way of making new and lasting friendships.

Last year The Arts Society celebrated a milestone in the Organisation`s history;   its Golden Anniversary.   It marked its 50th Anniversary with a series of events that embraced one overiding theme, enriching lives through the arts.      You can become part of the network of over 90,000 members worldwide - brought together through a shared curiosity for the arts and our artistic heritage.    The Society offers enjoyable opportunities to discover and support the arts of yesterday, today and tomorrow, wherever you might be.     Our events provide welcoming places, locally, nationally and globally - to hear excellent lecturers share their specialist knowledge about the arts.     Contact Jennifer Falconer - for details of how to become a member here in Highland.

Our National Chairman is Julie Goldsmith, formerly Chairman of Oundle Society.

At The Arts Society Highland we have an inspiring and diverse programme of lectures given by some of the country`s top experts, days of special interest and visits to historic buildings in the area and beyond.    Members can also enjoy study days and tours organised by The Arts Society Scotland & N.I.   Visitors and newcomers to our area are always most welcome.     Members are encouraged to bring a friend.

Jo Murray, Lauren Robinson and Amy Ross, art students at Culloden Academy, came to our May Lecture and brought and displayed their art portfolios.  Photographs of their work can be viewed in the GALLERY TAB.
